Germanton, NC – Ruby Jane Hill Merritt, 83 of Germanton, NC went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Mrs. Merritt was born on January 26, 1936 in Stokes County to the late Dennis Edgar Hill and Irene Lawson Hill. She was a graduate of Germanton High School. She worked at Hanes Hosiery for 19 years before she became a stay-at-home wife and mother. Mrs. Merritt was a member of Haw Pond Church of Christ and dearly loved her church family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and “Granny” and will be missed greatly by everyone that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Hill and Mary Kathryn Hill, and daughter-in-law Angie Merritt.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 63 years, Bobby Eugene Merritt of the home; one son, Darrell Eugene Merritt of Walnut Cove; two daughters, Tammy Merritt Kiger and husband Randy of King, and Michele Merritt Smith and husband Scotty of Germanton; five grandchildren, Chad Merritt and wife Barbara, Joshua Merritt and wife Michelle, Laura Hawkins, Brandy Honaker, and Lindsay Cheatwood and husband Josh; and eight great-grandchildren, Cody, Chloe, Carter, Dominic, Skylar, Matthew, Logan, and Haylee.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Slate Funeral Home in King. Funeral Services will be conducted following the visitation, at 7:00 PM. Interment will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Corinth Church of Christ Cemetery in Germanton with Pastor Jerry Tedder officiating,
