King – Ann “Nana” Salmon, 82, of King, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Gordon Hospice Home in Statesville, NC.
Mrs. Salmon was born on September 23, 1939, in Roanoke, VA, to the late Richard Edward and Frances Jane Madagan Layne. She was the widow of Shirley Eugene Salmon. Nana was a founding member of Harvest Temple Church of God and daycare; she was also a member of various women’s organizations, and the church choir. She was an excellent cook and was known for her potato salad and macaroni salad!
In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard “Dickie” Layne, and William Robert “Pete” Layne and two stepdaughters, Deborah Haulmark, and Rebecca Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Brian Salmon and wife Lisa, and Keith Salmon and wife Michelle; two sisters: Judy Salmon, and Jean Dixon and husband Donnie; her brother, Danny Layne and wife Donna; five grandchildren: Mandy Rollans and husband Ashley, Daniel Chilton, Aaron Keith Salmon, and Ethan Connor Salmon, Glenn Ferguson and wife Dianna, along with two great grandchildren: Vance Chilton Rollans, and Calum Asher Rollans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Slate Funeral Home.
A Celebration of her Homegoing will begin at 1:00 PM, at Slate Funeral Home, 132 E. Dalton Rd. King, NC with the family officiating. A private interment will be held.
