Anna Anderson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Anna Lou Anderson of Rural Hall, NC, on March 29, 2026. She was born and lived most of her life in Huntington, WV. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jimmie” Anderson. Their love affair began at age 14, meeting at a Huntington skating rink, and that love would continue for 64 years. Mom was a true southern lady who made sure everyone always felt welcomed in their home and was always willing to share a cup of coffee and a slice of pie. Her love of family and close friends is a reminder of how precious time spent together truly is.

Anna Lou and Jimmie were often referred to as the “worker bees”, always the first to volunteer to help anyone in need. Their shared compassion, loyalty, and hard work made them the perfect team. Their legacy together will be cherished. She was such a good mom and proud of her children, John Anderson and his wife, Laura of Eugene, OR, and Andrea Seckman and her husband, Brent of King, NC. Being a grandmother brought her such joy, and she made wonderful memories with each of her grandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson Bass (Trever) of Cortes Island, BC, Tyler Anderson (Lauren) of Atlanta, GA, Hillary Smith (Joshua) of Franklin, TN, and Rachael Butts (Grant) of Rural Hall, NC. She loved that her family was growing with the addition of great-grandchildren- Jack and James Smith and Riley Bass. She came from ‘good people’ and was proud of her Appalachian mountain heritage. She taught her family the values that we still hold dear to our hearts- a true celebration of a life well lived.

We would like to thank the caregivers from the memory facilities who helped us look after our mother for the past few years. They are truly special, loving souls. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a local memory or hospice facility. A memorial service will be planned for the future; may she rest in peace.
