Anna Lynn Overby, 59, of Mt. Airy, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital with her beloved family by her side.
Anna was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 11, 1965, to Sherman Wilson and Nellie Wells Wilson, both of whom have since passed away. Throughout her life, Anna demonstrated a remarkable dedication to her work as a seamstress at Industries for the Blind, where her skills and attention to detail were highly valued.
Known for her warm and nurturing personality, Anna exuded love and kindness to everyone she encountered, leaving a lasting impression on many. She cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother, always striving to create a loving and supportive environment for her family.
Anna was an active member of the True Gospel of Jesus Christ Church in Mt. Airy, where she found community and fellowship. Her faith played an important role in her life, guiding her interactions and fostering deep connections with others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Overby, her sisters, Sharon Overby, Cindy Tullock, and Clara Abbott, along with several aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Perry Lanier (Gayle) and Kevin Overby; her grandchildren, Dav id Lanier, Patrick Lanier, and Sofia Overby; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Slate Funeral Home, with Rev. Davis Smith, Rev. Joseph Adams, and Rev. Dan Abbott officiating.
