King – Arlene Smith, 95, of King, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Universal Health Care of King.
Arlene was born on February 10, 1925 in Stokes County to the late John Henry and Nolie Savannah Brown Smith. She was a member of King Community Church; she was a fine Christian lady. She was a lifelong homemaker, farmer, and always enjoyed helping others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-five years, Joe Cephus Smith, sisters: Dovie Wilmoth and Annie Price, her brothers: Cassell, Homer, Nathan, and Hambo Smith, and a grandson, Raymond Smith.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters: Rosalene Pratt and Barbara McKnight (Jim), her son, David Smith (JoAnn), sisters: Estelle Brown and Nancy Brown, grandchildren: Tracy Pratt (Bobby), and Dwayne Pratt (Tina), great grandchildren: Colby (Erica), Maggie, Erica (Patrick), Parker, Sophie, and Cooper, and one great-great grandchild due in October, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Arlene will lie in state on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM at Slate Funeral Home, 132 E. Dalton Rd. King, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 3, 2020 at Gardens of Memory 5676 Old Walkertown Rd. Walkertown, NC 27051, with Rev. Tommy Holder officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and caregivers of Universal Health Care and Trellis Supportive Care for all of the kindness and gentle care that was given to Arlene.
