Bennie Sullivan Obituary

Bennie Frank Sullivan, 81, of King, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Woltz Hospice Home with his beloved wife and children by his side.

Mr. Sullivan was born to the late James Frank and Willie Mae Stokes Sullivan in Luverne, AL, on November 5, 1943. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church but, in support of his wife’s ministry, he attended Oak Grove United Methodist and Dobson United Methodist. Bennie was a faithful servant of the Lord, spending his time studying the word to continue growing during his walk with the Lord. Enjoying in his retirement the ability to attend Bible Study with his family.

He was a long-haul truck driver for many years; he loved the open road, visiting all but 2 mainland states. Through his travels he never met a stranger and would always be up for a cup of coffee and conversation, sharing stories and brag on his family. For Bennie, if he knew you, you were a friend for life. No matter his ailments he would always reach out to family and friends to check in and was always willing to lend a hand whenever possible. He cherished the moments he just got to sit and talk and share memories and smiles. Bennie will be missed dearly by many, leaving cherished memories for all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Charles Sullivan, and his dear, lifelong friend Lynn Walker.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dorothy Lankford Sullivan of King, NC; his son, Nathan Lankford of King, NC; his daughter, Susan Sullivan of King, NC; a brother, John Sullivan and wife Brenda of Castor, LA, his nieces, and his special kitty, Patrick, and other fur grand puppies.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, at Beulah United Methodist Church with Rev. Lonnie Kendall officiating. Saying goodbye is difficult to say for someone deeply loved. This may be our last goodbye but not our last hello. Until we meet again in the church triumphant.

Mr. Sullivan will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. on Friday, prior to the Celebration of Life service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 925 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
