“Benny” Benjamin Floyd DeHart, 69, of Traphill passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Benny was born on March 22, 1953, in Swain County, NC to the late Frank Floyd and Jettie Belle Watkins DeHart. He was the owner of DeHart Logging and was of the Baptist faith. Benny enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine McCoy and his brother, Neal DeHart.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Teresa DeHart; his sons: Benjamin Floyd DeHart, Jr., Jonathan Wayne DeHart, and Christopher Dan DeHart; his sisters: Gladys Warden, Anita Myers, Linda Logan (Ricky), and Eva Noble; along with his grandchildren: Caleb DeHart, Blake DeHart, Brandon DeHart, Amber DeHart, Brandy Camp, Jackson DeHart, and Jettie Belle DeHart.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Slate Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Ron Hall officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the DeHart Watkins Family Cemetery.
