Billy Wayne Whitaker

King--Billy Wayne Whitaker, 68, of King, NC passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. 

Mr. Whitaker was born June 2, 1952 to the late Wayne and Betty Whitaker. He was a carpenter and construction worker for most his life, and proudly served as a volunteer firefighter at Sauratown Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his family deeply, and always used his sense of humor to show his love. Mr. Whitaker was known to some as Wild Bill, but his greatest gift in life was to be called Dad. He loved fast cars and fondly spoke of his old Mustang with his name on the side-his stories brought joy to everyone. He also loved driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister Ann Wood, whom he loved dearly. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-seven years, Ann Tucker Whitaker; his son Matthew; his daughter Kelly Johnson-Whitaker and her wife Jessica; his sisters Becky Finney, Hilda Marion, and Gilda Marion (Hassell); his brothers Danny Whitaker (Joyce) and Roger Whitaker (Jean); brother-in-laws Greg Tucker, Ron Tucker (Gene); sister-in-laws Sue Lawson (Ken), Debbie Thacker (Jeff); and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. 

A special thank you to Dr. James Jewel and the staff of Mountainview Medical for love and care shown to Mr. Whitaker.

Please remember COVID does not disappear in our grief. Please wear a mask and social distance at all times. A celebration of life for Mr. Whitaker will be held at a safer time.
