Billy "Bill" Ray Roberson

King – Billy Ray “Bill” Roberson, 91, of King, NC passed away at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, January 9, 2021. 

Mr. Roberson was born on November 8, 1929, in Forsyth County, NC to the late John W. and Carrie Bell Fulton Roberson.  Mr. Roberson proudly served in US Navy during the Korean War.  He retired from AM International and following retirement he started his own business servicing printers and copiers.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 290, a coach for the King Little League.  He served on the King Parks and Recreation Board and was a former member of the King Volunteer Fire Department.  In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and socializing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of thirty-four years, Betty Brown Roberson; his second wife of thirty-two years, Patricia Jolly Roberson; a son, Anthony Ray Roberson; and sisters, Brenda Fulp and Elizabeth Dozier.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Steven Edward Roberson (Wanda); his grandchildren: Steven Anthony Roberson (April), Stephanie Lynne Roberson, and Andria Roberson; along with three great grandchildren; stepdaughters: Leisa Jolly (Ron Musselman), and Susan Apple (Ashely); stepson, Tom Jolly (Jean); five step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; and special friends, Lloyd and Patsy Ginns.

Mr. Roberson will be available for viewing on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Slate Funeral Home.  Due to current restrictions, no family will be present.

A private family funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Parker Haynes, and Dr. Bart Milleson officiating, followed by a graveside service in the church cemetery.  

The funeral service will be live streamed from the church web site, www.trinityumcking.org.
