Germanton, NC – Bobby “Bob” Eugene Merritt, 88 of Germanton, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 10, 2023.
Bob was born on January 1, 1935, in Forsyth County to the late James Wiley Merritt and Gladys Krites Merritt. He worked at Thomasville Furniture for 39 years before he retired. Bob was a devoted member of Haw Pond Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and “PawPaw” and will be missed greatly by everyone that knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby “Jane” Hill Merritt of 63 years, daughter, Tammy Merritt Kiger, son-in-law Terry “Randy” Kiger, daughter-in-law Angie Merritt and sister Dorothy “Dot” Curry.
Left to cherish his memory is son, Darrell Eugene Merritt of Walnut Cove; daughter Michele Merritt Smith and husband Scotty of Germanton; five grandchildren, Chad Merritt and wife Barbara, Joshua Merritt and wife Michelle, Brandy Honaker, Lindsay Cheatwood, and husband Josh and Laura Stevens and husband Chad; and nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Matthew, Logan, Skylar, Chloe, Dominic, Carter, Haylee and Alyssa and one great-great-grandson Chandler and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 6:15 PM at Slate Funeral Home in King. Funeral Services will be conducted following the visitation, at 6:30 PM. Graveside service will take place on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Corinth Church of Christ Cemetery in Germanton with Pastor Jerry Tedder officiating.
