Brenda Kay (Bennett) Martin

Brenda Kay Bennett Martin, 74, of Germanton, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family.

Mrs. Martin was born in Amelia County, VA, on May 13, 1950, to the late Ollie and Mary Bennett. Brenda worked tirelessly as a Certified Nursing Assistant before her retirement. She loved to sing gospel music and read her Bible. She also loved attending her church, Closer Walk Baptist Church and loved her church family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 57 years, Larry Martin; her daughter, Rebecca Morris (Clayton); her brother, Ollie Ray Bennett (Terri); her grandchildren, Jaedon Taylor and Wyatt Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice, Dr. Mitch Kasena with Hawthorn Wound Center, and nurse Ellen Curry Delory.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Slate Funeral Home, with Rev. Don McGee, Rev. Roger Brown, and Rev. Danny Poindexter officiating. Interment will follow at Closer Walk Baptist Church cemetery.
