Carol Jean Barber, 87, of Mount Airy, NC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family, on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Village Care of King.
Ms. Barber was born on February 25, 1936, in Surry County, NC, to the late Roy Lee and Essie Wall Barber. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship in Mount Airy. Carol retired from Hanes Brands. She enjoyed cross stitching, watching westerns on tv, and watching Mountain Men, the TV series, her favorite was Tom Oar.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Rick Fletcher, Jeff Barber and wife Sharon, Wanda White and fiancé Tommy Bennett, Christie PeDigo, and husband Marty; two sisters, Glenda Styer, and husband Ken, and Judy Duggins; a brother, Grady Barber, and wife Glenda; along with six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at Slate Funeral Home on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. The funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gary Storms and Pastor Rob Sizemore officiating. Her final resting place will be in Rural Hall Memorial Park immediately following the service.
