Carolyn Jane (Mickey) Adkins

King – Carolyn Jane Mickey Adkins, 73, of King, NC passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, surrounded by her family, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Mrs. Adkins was born on October 30, 1950, in Forsyth County, NC to the late Ira and Fannie Westmoreland Mickey. Carolyn dedicated thirty-two years of service to BB&T. She was a member of Poplar Springs Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Owsler Adkins; and her siblings: Kathleen Leach (Talmadge), Vernon “Bubber” Mickey (Locile), a sister, Betty Jean, a sister, Joan Wall (Gene), and a brother, Bobby Mickey (Betty); a sister-in-law, Linda Church; and two brothers-in-law, Charles, and Richard Adkins.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: a daughter, Shannon Hixon (Keith); and a son, Chad Adkins (Lori); a sister, Judy Williams (Larry); four grandchildren: Casey Culler, Carly Culler, Courtney Hawkins (Roman), and Collin Reese; two great-grandchildren: Cayden Culler, and Millie Mize; a sister-in-law, Susan Adkins Warner; a special niece Debbie Reeves; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Slate Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with Minister Ralph Sproles officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
