Carolyn Anne (Baker) Mabe

Carolyn Anne Baker Mabe, 76, of Quaker Gap passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. She was born on February 9, 1947, to Ralph and Mary Slate Baker. She was a graduate of South Stokes High School “Class of 65.” She worked many years as a substitute teacher for Stokes County Schools.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Philmore Baker and sister, Becky Craig. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lloyd Mabe, and two daughters: Jennifer (Kyle) Edwards and Carrie Mabe (Steven Berrier), and two grandchildren: Abby and Zack Edwards, a brother, Rex (Helen) Baker as well as a host of other special family and friends.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching the Atlanta Braves, eating with the “Breakfast Club” on Tuesday mornings, and getting together with her Class of 65 classmates.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM at Slate Funeral Home, King, NC, on Monday, October 9, 2023, with Rev. Todd Lusk officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The graveside service will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral service.
