Chester "Ricky" Lee King

King- Chester “Ricky” Lee King, 63, of King, NC passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Ricky was born on December 9, 1956 in Forsyth County, NC to the late Carl Lee Smith and Betty Mae Smith who survives. He was a member of New Life Church, and he loved his church and church family.  His spare time was spent working on old cars, which was his favorite hobby, and he genuinely enjoyed helping his friends and family whenever they needed him. Ricky never met a stranger. 

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bobby Jo.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of seven years, Mary Hawks King of the home, papa’s special little boy Jordan, of the home, his mother, Betty Mae Smith, daughter, Stephanie King of Winston-Salem, NC, his son, Ricky King of King, NC, a sister, Tilda Vernon of King, NC, a brother, James King (Darlene) of Rural Hall, NC, and grandchildren: Katie, Jayson, Ricky, Andrew, Elijah, and Hailey.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, July 16, 2020, from 6:00 PM until 8;00 PM at Slate Funeral Home, 132 E. Dalton Rd. King, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2020 in the Slate Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Rodney Matthews officiating.  Interment will immediately follow at New Life Church Cemetery: 4540 NC 66 Hwy. S. King, NC.
