Clinton Arno Key, 93, of King, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. As we reflect on his remarkable life, we remember a man defined by his unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community.
Born on March 15, 1932, in Yadkin County, NC, to the late David Rufus and Mary Edith Hobson Key, Arno lived a life rich with experiences. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, an experience that shaped his values of service and commitment.
Arno was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he held many roles, including Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher. His involvement in the church was a testament to his belief in fostering community and support. As a proud member of the American Legion Post 290 in King, he continued to serve his community with honor.
Professionally, Arno dedicated many years of his life to Hanes Dye and Finishing, where he was a respected supervisor. Retirement did not slow him down; instead, he embraced hobbies such as woodworking, where he crafted beautiful, handcrafted pens, and spent joyful moments saltwater fishing. Known for his warm presence, you could often find him enjoying meals at his favorite restaurant, PB Clarks. Yet, above all, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Arno was preceded in death by the love of his life, Doris Benton “Dot” Key, as well as his siblings, Wade Key, Alvis Key, Pearlie Pendry, Velma Lee Lane, Pat Henderson, Franklin Key, and an infant brother, Jimmy Key.
Arno is survived by his daughters Kelly Craine (John), and Donna Hill (Allan), grandchildren: Lindsay Kiser, Adam Tilley (Jordan), Amanda Tilley Crowder (Greer), and Ashley Roberts (Matt), great-grandchildren: Riley Keen, Wyatt Tilley, Luke Tilley, Lacie Tilley, Carson Kiser, McKinley Roberts, Axel Roberts and Addison Crowder; a sister-in-law Mary Key, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice, Mountain View Medical, and PB Clarks for their unwavering support during this time.
