Darrell Anthony Charles Adkins, of King, NC, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53 on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Mr. Adkins was born in Cabel County, WV, on May 24, 1971, to the late Darrell Gene Adkins and Shelia Pyles Adkins, who survives. He worked as a Biomedical Equipment Technician for Trimedx at Forsyth Medical Center. He was a man with many interests. He enjoyed fishing and music, especially playing the guitar. Darrell was a die-hard, lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan. He found great joy in spending time hiking with his wife, and he dearly loved his three sons. He was of the Christian faith.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 30 years, Donna Benedict Adkins; his mother, Shelia Pyles Adkins; his sons, Joshua Adkins (Erica Jones), Jacob Adkins (Zamaria Bridges), and Jeremiah Adkins; his sister, Cynthia Adkins Tuttle (Brian), and he was eagerly anticipating the birth of his grandson, Jakobi Adkins, who will be arriving in November. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Nancy Benedict; sisters-in-law, Holly Benedict Brooks (Dennis Idol), and Sandra Castillo; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Benedict.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at King Memorial Park with Pastor Wesley Johnson officiating.
Memorial donations to honor Darrell’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
