King – David Lee Lawson, 75, of King, NC passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Village Care of King, with his devoted daughters by his side.
Mr. Lawson was born on August 10, 1945 in Stokes County, NC to the late James Isaac and Lillian Ingram Lawson. He was a graduate of King High School. He retired from R.J. Reynolds after thirty years of faithful service. After retirement he opened The Wash Pit Auto Detailing. David was a member of several classic car clubs and was an avid golfer, but most of all he cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Linwood Lawson.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughters: Debbie Lawson Mabe (Tony), and Denise Lawson Calloway (Ronnie); ex-wife and lifelong friend, Shirley Lawson; grandchildren: Taylor Calloway, Heather Calloway Smith (Lucas), Hannah Calloway Green (Adam), Courtney Hayes, Trevor Mabe (Katelynn), and Brandon Mabe; a great grandchild, Ruby Joley Smith; a sister-in-law, Peggy Lawson, a nephew Kevin Lawson and a niece Allison Cardwell.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Village Care for all of the love, care and support Mr. Lawson received while residing there, they became like a second family to him.
A private memorial service will be held in Mr. Lawson’s honor at a later date.
