Rural Hall – Derek Joseph Burge, 45, of Rural Hall passed away on June 20, 2023, following a period of declining health.
Derek was born on April 3, 1978, in Forsyth County, NC to David and Donna Needham Burge. He graduated in 1996 from South Stokes High School and earned his Associate Degree in Nursing from Forsyth Technical College. He was employed as an RN at Forsyth Medical Center and Wake Forest Baptist Health. He enjoyed watching any and all sports and coaching Little League Baseball.
Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents: Donald and Melvin Hall Burge, and Allen and Marie Tuck Needham.
He is survived by his parents, David and Donna Burge, his daughter, Ragan Lynn Burge, his son, Blake Joseph Burge, a sister, Shannon Burge Rose and husband Doug, a brother, Bradley Burge, and partner Rae, nephews: David Lee and Jonathan Rose, a niece, Annie Rose, his grandparents, Ted and Lucille Westmoreland, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his pets, Charlie and Kitty.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Slate Funeral Home.
