Dolly Ann (Johnson) Holt

Mrs. Dolly Ann (Johnson) Holt age 79 of Cana, VA passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the Mountain Valley — Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, NC, with her family at her side. She was born in the Sugar Grove community of Smyth County, VA on June 19, 1945, to James Percy Johnson and Ila Mae (Combs) Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant children, Richard Dale Henderson and Raymond Lee Henderson; her husband, Robert Thomas Holt; three brothers, Earnest Percy Johnson, Bain Noel Johnson, and Wanie Gay Johnson; two sisters, Hazel Marie Johnson and Edna Mae Johnson; sister-in-law
Elma Kirk Johnson; and nephew Kevin Johnson.

Mrs. Holt was a loving wife and a determined, compassionate, and caring mother and grandmother. Mrs. Holt's greatest passion was spending time with her three grandsons. Mrs. Holt was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed quilting and wining blue ribbons for her creations. She enjoyed gardening and canning, always sharing with family and friends. Mrs. Holt's green thumb was always evident with her flowers and house plants. She delighted in cooking large holiday meals and spending time with her family and her beloved cat.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Marie and Joey Haynes of Cana, VA; son, William Terry and Georgia Henderson of Woodbridge, VA; three grandsons, Landon Tyler Haynes, William Logan Henderson, and Luke George Henderson; two brothers, Loyd Boss Johnson and Kecil Wayne Johnson and wife Kimberly of Marion, VA; sister, Betty Sue Hawkins and sister-in-law Shirley Johnson of Sugar Grove, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children which she loved as her own.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 97 Oak Grove Trail, Cana, Virginia with Pastor Isreal Gwyn and Pastor Andrew Willard officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church and invites all in attendance to enjoy a time of remembrance and light refreshments immediately following the burial in the church's fellowship hall.
