Donald Wayne Hawkins

Donald Wayne Hawkins, Jr., 67, of King, NC, passed away, with his beloved wife and family by his side, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Woltz Hospice House of Dobson, NC.

Wayne was born in S. Charleston, WV, on November 5, 1957, to Rev. Donald Wayne Hawkins, Sr. and Lois Warner Hawkins, who survive. He was the owner/operator of Hawkins Automotive. Wayne was a man of many talents; he was an expert woodworker and guitar player and enjoyed fishing and golf. He was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God.

Wayne was preceded in death by a sister, Leslie Carol.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Rev. Donald and Lois Hawkins; his wife of 35 years, Pam Hawkins; his children: Lindsay Mecham (Jaren), and Lauren Morse, Jennifer Gibson, April Huff (Chris); Bradley Francis (Fiancé Angie), his grandchildren: Joshua, Jonathan, Simon, Conan, Zane, Leah, Hunter, Sierra, Christopher, Dylan, Lric, , Emory, CJ, Seth and Dakota; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Isa, Sierra, Zoey and Solis; along with his brothers, David Hawkins (Brenda), and Matthew Hawkins (Tammy).

A Life Celebration to honor Wayne’s memory will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
