Dwayne Douglas “Doug” Walsh, 82, of Rural Hall, NC, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, after a brave battle against cancer.
Doug was born on July 31, 1942, in Boomer, NC, to the late Doctor Roland and Mazie Parson Walsh. He was a member of Capella Church of Christ. He was a US Army veteran and retired from US Airlines where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. Doug was an avid tennis player, he loved cars and tractors and enjoyed working in his garage.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved partner of 23 years, Ann Lawson, who has been his rock through his battle with cancer; his sister, Brenda Bray (Terry); his brother, James Walsh (Jeanette); special friends: Arthur Smith, Bobby Mabe, and George Hunter; along with several nieces, nephews, additional friends and other relatives.
The family wishes to thank Trellis Supportive Care and his cancer treatment doctors and nurses at Novant Health Cancer Institute, Forsyth Hematology, for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Cappella Church of Christ Cemetery, with minister Donald Davis officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
