Elisha "Tommy" Thomas Tilley

Elisha Thomas “Tommy” Tilley, 88, of Pinnacle, NC passed away on Sunday September 24, 2023, in the Yadkin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Yadkinville, NC.

Tommy was born in Stokes County, NC on March 28, 1935. He was the son of the late Jesse Reid and Ethel Wilson Tilley and the widower of the late Audrey Moser Tilley. Tommy retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was also a tobacco farmer. He was a founding member and retired from the Double Creek Fire Department, following retirement, he served on the Board of Directors. Tommy was a member of Brim’s Grove Baptist Church.

Tommy loved wheeling and dealing, he enjoyed attending auctions where he honed his craft. He never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Melinda Sue Tilley Matthews, and husband Tony; his son, Jimmy Reid Tilley, and wife Mary Ann; his grandchildren; Danielle Marshall and husband, Brad, Kimberly Sneed, Caleb Tilley and wife Shannon, and Allan Matthews; six great grandchildren; and two sisters: Ann “Phoebe” Pegram and husband Earl, and Delano Creson.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Slate Funeral Home in King.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Brim’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch See officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Flowers are appreciated, or memorials can be made to the Brim’s Grove Cemetery Fund.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to Yadkin Nursing Center and all of his caregivers for the wonderful care they gave to Mr. Tilley.
