Gary Thomas Bennett

King, NC – Mr. Gary Thomas Bennett, 77, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born in Stokes County, NC to the late Malcolm Thomas Bennett and Erlene James Bennett on October 4, 1945. Gary was a loving, precious man who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and cherished the love of his life, his wife, Judy Tabor Bennett. They were married for 58 ½ years. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Amy Bennett Brown (Chris), and Amber Bennett Boger (Terry). He loved his grandchildren, Christopher Boger, Hannah Radford (Mason), and Holly Boger (Will). He loved his extended family, Odis and Linda James, and Frank James

He was a member of Poplar Springs Christian Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He served on the Missions Committee and Communion Committee. He retired from Windstream Telephone Company, after 43 years of service. He served in the United States Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sylvia Bennett Eaton.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Poplar Springs Christian Church, with Ministers, Griffin Gilstrap and Don Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:45 pm, prior to the service.
