George Campbell

George Campbell, 88, of Tobaccoville, NC, passed away at his home, surrounded by his beloved family, on Friday, May 30, 2025.

George was born in Rowan County, NC, on April 12, 1937, to the late John Alexander and Mattie Holshouser Campbell. He was a hard-working diesel mechanic and retired from APAC. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church. George was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Shirley McGee Campbell; his children, Georgiann Campbell and Shirlene Campbell Jordan (Ken); his grandchildren, Jonathan Horton (Lisa), Jeremy Horton (Nikki), and Jessica Lusk (David), Meagan Terry (Scott), and Evan Campbell Jordan (Ansley); along with 13 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrell Cox officiating. A private interment will be held at Crestview Memorial Park.
