George Thomas McCoy, 65, of Tobaccoville, NC, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, enveloped in the love and warmth of his family.
Mr. McCoy was born on May 18, 1959, in the picturesque Mingo County, WV, to the late William Henry McCoy Jr. and Lucille Wright McCoy. He was lovingly preceded in death by his devoted wife, Elaine DeHart McCoy, who was his partner in life.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Mill Creek Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mr. McCoy dedicated his career to serving others. He took immense pride in providing compassionate care and comfort to the residents and patients under his watch, forming lasting connections that touched many lives.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his brother, William McCoy, and his sister, Carolyn Whitetail, who both held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Tracey Ayers, who brought joy and companionship into his life; his stepson, Michael Parks; his stepdaughter, Michelle Parks; and three step-grandchildren: Isaiah Parks, Eli Parks, and Cheyenne Lane, who brought him great happiness. He also cherished his step-great-great-great-grandchild, Easton Parks, a blessing to the family. In addition, he is survived by his brother, James McCoy, and his sister, Alice Roberts, who remain his cherished family.
A memorial service to celebrate Mr. McCoy's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home, where friends and family can gather to share their memories and support one another, with visitation to follow.
