Gladys "Lanoria" Slater, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on May 17, 1944, to Lindsey and Maggie Jane Creed, Lanoria lived a life that was as harmonious as the Gospel music she adored.
Lanoria's legacy is carried on by her loving son, Alvin Duncan, and his wife, Lisa; her cherished granddaughter, Lakin Tilley, and her husband, Chris; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Delilah, Juliet, and Axelson Tilley. Lanoria was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Slater, her parents, and her four brothers and three sisters with whom she now reunites in eternal rest.
Her passion for Gospel music was not just a hobby but a way of life. She shared her love for music with everyone around her, and her talent was a gift she generously gave to her community. Lanoria was a familiar face on The Hillbilly Bus, where she delighted audiences with her portrayal of Minnie Pearl. Her infectious laughter and spirited performances left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of witnessing her in action.
A Celebration of Lanoria’s Life will be held at a later date.
