Harold Roy Kiermaier (93) of King, NC, passed away on April 25, 2024, at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. Harold, fondly known as Hal, was born to Hilda and Harold Kiermaier on June 24, 1930, in Bergen, NJ. Predeceasing him in peace was his beautiful wife and the love of his life, Vivian. Affectionately called Vivi, who passed away on July 21, 2014. They had celebrated 60 years together and left behind their 4 children: Mike (Val) Kiermaier, Alpha, NJ; Tom (Carol) Kiermaier, Benton, PA; Jane Siefert, Lewisville, NC; Anne Thornton, Advance, NC. Six Grandchildren and six great grandchildren and Hal’s very dear sister Claire O’Toole, Great Barrington, MA.
Hal served in the Korean War, contributing to the study of Nylon Body Armor while sacrificing safety and comfort under hazardous conditions to distribute and collect from front-line troops. When he returned, Vivi and he married. He spent most of his life in the banking business. Hal enjoyed being out in his yard and gardening, and in his younger years, he enjoyed the beach. He was most proud of and cherished his family above all earthly things.
Our parents left a legacy of their strong Christian Faith and have been reunited in heaven. Our Dad always said, “I’ve been so blessed.” Dad and Mom, we have too!
The family will hold a private celebration of life service at a later date.
