Harold Dean Robertson

Harold Dean Robertson August 29, 1933 – July 14, 2024

King, North Carolina – Harold Dean Robertson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 14th, 2024 at the age of 90 after a brief illness.

A King native, Dean passed peacefully at his home where he lived all of his adult life with his loving wife, Mary.

A graduate of King High School, Dean graduated from Elon University and received his Master’s degree from NC A&T.

He was a veteran and served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 in Korea.

He was an educator at Stokes County Schools for 30 years and had a passion for his students, many of whom appreciated his humor along with his sternness and his love for teaching. He also had a tremendous passion and huge talent for farming which he was able to enjoy for many seasons on the land that he loved and nurtured throughout his life.

Dean maintained an abiding faith, and served his church, Capella Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday School for more than 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Edith Smith Robertson, two children Alan Robertson (Terri), Charles Robertson (Kim); his grandchildren: Charli Robertson, Dillon Robertson (Lindsay) and two great-grandchildren, Leo and Mary Jo Robertson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Judy Kinney, (Mike) his brother-in-law David Smith and dozens of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

His wife and sons would like to extend their gratitude to some special friends, Randall and Shiela Patterson, Bonnie Tuttle, caregiver Wendy Frye and to the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving care and support and to the family and friends who visited him during his illness at home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated for the Capella Church of Christ designated to the Cemetery Fund.

A private graveside service will be held at Capella Church on Thursday, July 18th. The family will receive friends at the Capella Church Fellowship Hall on July 18th at 11:00am.
