JC Holt passed away Sunday, July 23rd at his home in King, NC. JC was a faithful man who was dedicated to his Church, Community, and family until his final days.
He was born and raised by Glenn and Ollie Holt in the Old Town community of Winston-Salem. During his early years, he became an active member at New Hope UMC and participated in “Youth for Christ” while running track in high school. After graduating from North Forsyth in 1965 he studied Ministry at Brevard College. He retired from R.J. Reynolds after thirty years of service.
JC married his late wife Linda Covington from King in 1966 and joined Quaker Gap Baptist Church where he continued practicing his Faith while contributing to the many ministries of the Church. His favorite activities included singing in the Church Choir, Local Prayer Walks, teaching Sunday School, Youth Mission Trips, International Mission Trips, serving on the Mission Committee, Vacation Bible School, leading the RA Group, and serving as a Chaperone for Children’s Summer Trips. He served his Church as an active Deacon and as a member of the Stokes County ACTS Club Leadership Team.
Serving his community was one of JC’s finest qualities. His service to Habitat for Humanity and the Handicap Ramp Ministry was always appreciated by the local citizens. JC built benches with the Seeds For Hope and helped with King Outreach in different capacities. Some of his favorite times were spent meeting his Friday Morning Breakfast Bible Study Group at King Kitchen and every Sunday Lunch at PB Clarks Restaurant.
JC enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with his harvest. He loved singing and playing his guitar and harmonica. He used those talents to lead musical entertainment for the Springwood Care residents. If you are one of his nephews, you likely received a handmade toy made of wood by JC. His cars were great!
When he kicked back to relax, he enjoyed watching some of his favorite sports with family members. You would typically see JC catching a NASCAR race, Braves Baseball, any type of Football and even watching wrestling on occasion.
JC adored his family members. The family could always depend on JC to host one of his popular annual Chicken Stews in his beautiful backyard.
Those times will surely be missed.
In addition to his parents, John Charles Holt was preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Covington Holt in 2016, brother Tim Holt in 2018, and sisters Barbara Tucker in 2021 and Janet Bottoms in 2022.
