Obituary

King – Mayor Jack Eugene Warren, 81, of King, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at his home surrounded by his beloved family.

Mr. Warren was born on March 4, 1942, in Forsyth County, NC to the late Rufus Martin “RM” and Mary Alice (Fletcher) Warren. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church.

Mayor Jack E. Warren was an active member of city government and civic organizations for many years. He gave freely of his time to help his community and the citizens of King, and Stokes County.

During his service to the City, Mayor Warren served many community organizations and boards, including President of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Commander of American Legion Post 290, Hospice and Palliative Care Advisory Council, and the City of King Planning Board. He was also a long-time supporter and advocate for local veterans. In September of 2022, Mayor Warren had the prestigious honor of receiving the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest award presented by the Governor of North Carolina for his extraordinary service to the state.

His heart was filled with the love of God and his family. He was more than just a public servant, he lived a full life and in doing so, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and the Carolina Tarheels.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Nola (Toot) Warren Vaughn, and a nephew, Frankie Calloway.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Pamela Gail Hellard Warren of the home, his daughters: Alison Warren Mullis (John), and Ashlee Nicole Warren, both of King, NC, his grandchildren: Drake Clodfelter, Zane Vassey, Sage Vassey, Camden Warren, Braxton Warren, and Hartley Mullis, all of King, NC, a brother, Mike Warren (Vicki) of King, a sister, Linda Tuttle (Dennis), of King, his nieces: Amanda Collins (Josh) of Rural Hall, Meredith Tuttle, and Terri Fowler (John Elmore) of King, and a nephew, Michael Todd Warren (Mefonda) of King.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:45 PM at King Christian Center: 995 Brown Rd. King, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at King Christian Center with Rev. Todd Lusk and Chaplain Rick Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery: 2131 Volunteer Rd. Pinnacle, NC.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 290: 446 S. Main St. King, NC 27021, or to Olive Grove Baptist Church: 2131 Volunteer Rd. Pinnacle, NC 27043.
