James Rolan Smith, Jr.

James R. Smith, Jr., 81, of King passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Forsyth Medical Center. 

James was born on September 11, 1938, in Stokes County, NC to the late James Rolen, Sr. and Lilia Dodson Smith.  He was a retired mechanic with R.J. Reynolds.  He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, was an avid golfer and cherished his time spent with his beloved family. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded by death by his sister, Mary Sue Marshall.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Glenda Smith, whom he shared sixty wonderful years with, his daughters: Jill Tuttle and husband, Randy, and Penny Boles, his son, Timothy Smith and wife, Ginny, grandchildren: Kristen Lankford and husband Adam, and Ashley Hamm and husband Caleb, along with two great grandchildren, Conner Lankford and Aubrey Hamm.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00N on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem with Scotty Mounce officiating.
