Janet Gordon Hall, 68, of King, NC, passed away peacefully at home following a courageous battle with illness.
Janet was born on March 4, 1956, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Elmer Edward and Eldee Beatrice Adams Gordon. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University and master’s degrees from UNC-Greensboro and Appalachian State. In 1992, she was inducted into the Appalachian State University Athletic Hall of Fame for tennis, volleyball, and basketball – the only woman with the distinguished honor to be inducted for three different sports. Janet was also the first female member of the Appalachian State University Trailblazers Club.
Janet's dedication extended beyond the sports field. She was a dedicated teacher, coach and principal in Stokes and Surry Counties. She proudly served the students and teachers at King Elementary, Chestnut Grove Middle, Pilot Mountain Middle, Southeastern Stokes Middle, and Foothills High Schools. In addition to teaching, she was a real estate broker for over thirty years and opened her own firm, Janet G. Hall Realty, in King following her retirement from education.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Smith, and her brother, Robert Gordon.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, George Hall; a daughter, Christen Hall Taber (John); a son, Kyle Hall; her grandchildren, Ollie George Taber and Matthew Preston Paige; a sister, Jane Taylor Wilson, along with several other extended family members.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at First Baptist Church of King. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Paul Norman, Rev. Perry Norman, and Pastor Caleb Waller officiating. The interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Crestview Memorial Park.
