Janie Kay (Smith) Kye

Janie Kay Smith Kye also known as Mimi to everyone who loved her, 89, of Tobaccoville passed away at home on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Born on February 3, 1936, in Stokes co. to the late Kineth Lester and Brona Futrelle Tuttle Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby G. Kye also preceded were her son Michael G. Kye sister, Bonnie S, Hennings and brothers, June T. Smith and David A. Smith

Janie was a self-employed realtor until her retirement after 66 years and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she found joy in greeting and getting to know everyone whether a visitor, new member or long-time member. She was also very active in the auxiliary of the VFW Post 9436 in Pilot Mountain.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Yvonne Tedder (Bill), son, Mitchell Kye, Sister, Lee Ann Myers (David), Grandchildren, Ian S. Tedder (Meredith), Austin Tedder (Ashley), Kelly Kye Sawyer (Tom), Brent Kye (McKenzie), Erin Kye and Pierson Kye, great grandchildren, Luke, Presley, Leah, and Thatcher Tedder, Josie and Goldie Kye and Waverly Sawyer. Daughter in Law Cindy Kye, brother in laws, Hoyal Kye, and George Hennings, sisters in law Betty K. Bailey and Debby Smith and her loving caregiver Dorena Collins. Several beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church 725 West Dalton Rd. King, NC 27021 or to Trellis Supportive Care 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27013.

A private interment will take place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
