Jimmie Rosamond Obituary

Jimmie Lawrence Rosamond, 85, of King, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1939, in Greenwood, MS; he was the son of the late Johnny Rosamond and Irene Watson Rosamond Storms.

 Jim was a proud veteran of the US Air Force where he was a member of Strategic Air Command (SAC) stationed at Walker AFB, NM.  For the past few decades, he was a member of Post 290 American Legion in King, NC. He had once held the title of Vice Commander, “Sergeant -at- Arms,” to most recently, the Correspondent for the 40 & 8 and a Trustee. He also donned the hat as Post 290’s -- keeping the grounds as sharp as his wit!  Another position he took great pride in was the Community Service Coordinator for the Stokes County Courts System in which he helped a great many community service workers gain a second chance in life!  Jim was an incredible ambassador for the City of King and Stokes County through his Incredible “Service Before Self” mentality he brought to the positions he held throughout the years while being a member of Post 290!

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth Rosamond; Stepdaughter; Cheryl Newell; Grandsons Jacob Alexander; Randal Matlock. Great- Great Grandson Gage Hassler.

  He is survived by his son Jimmy Rosamond of King; Stepsons Randy Matlock (Shirly) of King; Terry Matlock (Cheryl) of Ga.; Daughter Tammy Alexander (Troy) of High Point. Grandchildren:  Zachary Alexander, Amy Nelson, Cassidy Rosamond (Katie), Christopher Rosamond, Brittany Phillips, Misty Harris (Curtis) Tiffany Beck, Stephanie Matlock, Cody Matlock, Stacey Hassler (Chris), Brad Lawson (Cari), Courtney Snyder, Lindsey Newell, and Caleigh Newell.

 Great-Grandchildren:  Addison Rosamond, Gabby Harris, Lucas Harris, Jacob Harris, Blake Hassler (Allison), Breonna Hall (Micha), Brayden Hassler, Clayton Snyder, Clark Lawson.

 Great- Great Grandchildren:  Lily Hassler, Colt Hassler, Leah Hassler, Malachi Hall, Eleanor Hall, James Hall, and Link Hall, William Nelson, Savanah Nelson.

 There will be a Remembrance Service held at American Legion Post 290 in King, NC on 

 October 6,2024 at 2 p.m.
