John Wayne Elolf passed away unexpectedly at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
John was born May 24, 1945, in Houston, Tex. to Gilbert Elolf and Irene Rebecca Vezzetti. John graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1963 and Texas Academy of Art in 1967 where he earned his Degree in Graphic Design and met his wife, Jane.
Mr.Elolf retired from Invizion in King, NC. He was one of two founding members of Prepress Graphics in Winston Salem, NC. John served as troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He loved sports and enjoyed his time coaching both Legion baseball and SCYBL youth basketball in King. His servitude to the community also extended to over twenty years of service with the Sauratown Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active member of Trinity Moravian Church in Winston Salem and in most recent years King Moravian Church in King.
John was a quiet, strong individual to those he first met but would open up to conversation in abundance once he became your friend. He was a skilled artist, and avid hunter and fisherman. Whether it be at his private pond, lake, or the ocean he was always happiest with a fishing rod in hand and his faithful dogs at his side.
John was preceded by his parents Gilbert and Irene Elolf, his brother Charlie William Elolf, brother-in-law David Theriot, and his daughter that died at birth. Mr. Elolf is survived by his wife of 57 years Jane Bennett Elolf, and their son Jonathan David Elolf and fiancé Vavina Lapham and her children Brianna, Kacie, and Brayden Lapham. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Theriot and sister-in-law Sarah Elolf and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to King Moravian Church 228 West Dalton King NC 27021, or to Sauratown Volunteer Fire Department 4475 NC-66 S. King NC 27021.
Celebration of Life Service with be held with family and friends at a later date.
