Johnnie Hubert Smith

Johnnie Hubert Smith, 87, of King, NC passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Winston Salem, NC

Born in 1933 in Caswell County, he was the son of the late Lester Hassell and Belle McKinney Smith.

Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1952 – 1956 during the Korean War.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Jim and Gene Smith; Sisters, Nellie Rudd, Brona Herdon, Elva Apple, and Inez Conklin; Son, H. Douglas Smith; grandson, Buddy Hamlett; and daughter in law Alesia Smith.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years Mildred D. Smith,

daughters, Melba (Wayne) Fogleman , Pamela (J.V.) Wrenn; sister Erma Matherly; brother, Fred (Judy) Smith; grandchildren Tommy (Tanisha) Fogleman, Pam Fogleman, Mickey (Betsy) Wrenn, Bonnie (Nathan) Raver, Angel Kennedy, Amanda (Sam) Rule and Tiffany (Brian) Easter. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday September 15, 2020 at the Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery 3003 Altamahaw Race Track Road, Elon, NC. The family will receive friends on Monday September 14, 2020 from 6:00 – 7:00 Pm at Slate Funeral Home, King, NC.
