Johnny Gray Finney, Sr., 77, of King, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Specialty Select Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
Mr. Finney was born in Forsyth County, NC, on September 30, 1947, to the late Fred Garr and Dessie Butcher Finney. He was a carpenter by trade, but his true calling was as a minister of the Gospel who pastored several churches in the area. He was also known as a notorious jokester and teller of wonderful stories. He was a faithful member of Friendly Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Roger Finney, his brother, Mickey Finney, and his sister, Patsy Finney.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Lisa Finney; his children: Pamela Finney, Tammy Mickey (Chris), Lisa Kroll (Cory), Mary Finney, Johnny Finney, Jr. (Amber), Kristina Noah (Mark), Billy Tucker (Alicia), Cynthia Shouse (Bob), Jonathan Tucker (Dana), and Zachary Tucker (Luann); 37 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; his fur baby Peanut; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Craig Edwards and Rev. David Keaton officiating. Interment will follow at New Beginnings Baptist Church Cemetery.
