King, NC – Joseph Edward Messer, 80, of King, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Messer was born on October 30, 1940, in Forsyth County, NC to Monroe Howard and Allie Henson Messer. He was a US Army Veteran, and a member of Cappella Church of Christ. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds and following his retirement he worked at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts for thirteen years. Joe was an avid gardener known for his beautiful yard and abundant garden.
Mr. Messer was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Joyce Messer; brothers and sisters: Edna, George, Sarah, Jim, Jack, Shirley, Trix, Bill, Pauline, Carl, David, and one infant brother.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Edie Hill and husband Todd, and Tina Bassiri and husband Sassan; a sister, Doris Cearley and husband Robert; and three grandchildren: Joseph Hill, Anna Hill, and Brandon Bassiri; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones on Monday, November 1, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at First Christian Church, 625 Meadowbrook Dr. King, NC.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM at First Christian Church with Pastor Glenn Van Meter and Pastor Peter Cain officiating. Interment will follow at Capella Church of Christ, 1187 Flat Shoals Rd. King, NC.
