Lucille Owen Rippey, 93, died Saturday afternoon on May 9, 2026, at Village Care of King.
She was born on December 3, 1932, in Surry County to Robert Nathaniel Owen and Ethel Ennis Coon Owen.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rawden L. Rippey, two brothers, Clyde (Judy) Owen and Randall Owen, and four sisters, Earline (Elbert) Gibbons, Mozelle (Wiley) Hawks, Nell (Jack) Duggins, and Patsy (Darrell) Smith.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and three she helped raise: Troy Hobson, Brayden Clapp, and Bella Clapp. Also surviving is a special sister-in-law, Louise Rippey.
Per Lucille’s request, there will be no services. She wanted her body donated to the Winston-Salem Baptist Hospital School of Medicine.
