Margie Alene (Cromer) Durham

King- Margie Alene Cromer Durham, 98, of King, NC passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

Mrs. Durham was born on October 1, 1922, in Stokes County, NC, to the late Robert Scales and Martha Atwell Tillotson Cromer.  She was a faithful member of King Baptist Mission, she loved spending time with her beloved family, being in church and spending time with her Lord in prayer.  Mrs. Durham graduated from Nursing School in 1942 and served many as an RN over the next sixty-0ne years. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; of sixty-one wonderful years; Ed Durham, along with her siblings: Elmo Cromer (Mildred), Vila Cromer Monroe (Duffy), Cleo Cromer Fowler (William), Romeo Cromer (Ethel), Madelyn Cromer Collins (Ernest), and Harley Gray Cromer (Betty).

Left to cherish her memory is her daughters: Libby Martin (Lynwood), and Patsy Stafford (Earl); her grandchildren: Shannon Martin Bowles (Rodney), G`Anzie Martin Garner (David), Tiffany Martin Boyles (Michael), Chad Stafford (Philana), and Eric Stafford (Jodi); along with twelve great-grandchildren: Tyler Bowles, Taylor Bowles, Bailey Stafford, Christina Stafford, Grace Stafford, Isaak Stafford, Benjamin Stafford, Abigail Stafford, David Stafford, Joseph Stafford, Luke Boyles, and Mazie Grace Boyles and one great great-grandchild, Malachi Stafford.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, April 17, 2021, from 10:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Slate Funeral Home in King.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Slate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Stafford, Rev. Chad Stafford, and Rev. Albert (Abby) Angell officiating.   Burial will take place at King Baptist Mission Cemetery, 500 W. Dalton Rd. King, NC.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Well Care Hospice and all of the wonderful caregivers that provided compassionate care to Mrs. Durham during her time of need.
