King – “Mary” Sue Hooker Sutphin, 70, of King, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022, at her home, surrounded by those she loved dearly.
Ms. Sutphin was born on December 25, 1951, in Forsyth County, to the late Grady and Tracie Stewart Hooker. She worked in accounting until she had to leave due to declining health. As she grew stronger, she went back to work at Sheetz as the “Coffee Lady”; there she found great joy in her job and loved her customers. Christmas was her favorite time of the year; she enjoyed the beauty and wonder of the season with great enthusiasm.
Left to cherish her memory is her two sons: Brian Sutphin (Tracy), and Greg Sutphin, Sr.; a sister, Nancy Mulwee Draughn; three grandchildren: Bradley Sutphin, Gregory Sutphin, Jr., and Brianna Jackson; along with four great grandchildren: Elijah Sutphin, Lily Williams, Trent Williams, and Jackson Williams.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Slate Funeral Home in King.
A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Brown Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, 2269 NC 66 Hwy. N. Westfield, NC, with Rev. John Byerly officiating.
