Mary Katherine Tackett Williams, 87, of Pilot Mountain, NC, walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 27th, 2026. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and loved ones. Mary was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. She was known for her love of gardening, cooking, and her love for the Lord. Mary was very devoted to Christ and a faithful servant of the Lord.
Mary was born in Tazewell County, VA, to the late Bill and Ethel Tackett on January 17, 1939. Mary had 5 brothers and two sisters. Her Father, Bill Tackett, was a coal miner, and her mom, Ethel, was a homemaker. Her grandfather was a preacher, so she grew up in a very Christian home. Mary went on to marry Raymond Thomas Williams and had 4 children together. They were married until his death in 2003.
Mary is now reunited in heaven with her parents, Bill and Ethel Tackett, her 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. Her husband, Raymond Thomas Williams. A son, Raymond Daniel Williams. Two of her grandchildren, Candie Marie Rose Tucker and Randall Alvin Rose. One great-great-grandchild, Layla Marie Whittington, and two very special sons-in-law, Richard Lee Rose and Frank Dale Rose.
Left to cherish her memory are three children: Rose Mary Rose, William Raymond Williams (Ann), and Ethel Mary Rose. 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Tina Leonard and all the staff at Liberty HomeCare and Hospice for everything they’ve done for our family, their kindness, compassion, and, most of all, their dedication in helping Mary during her last few years.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC, with Minister Phillip Woods officiating.
