Mickie Styers, 72, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. Born June 1, 1952, Mickie dedicated 28 years of his life to working at RJ Reynolds.
Mickie was a master woodworker. He was a man of many passions, including golf, music, and hunting. Above all, Mickie was a devoted Christian, an active churchgoer, and a faithful servant of the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Faye Styers, his sister LuAnne Bray, and his brother, Private Wyman Styers.
Mickie is survived by his twin sister, Vickie Whiteheart, and his niece, Debbie Whiteheart. He leaves behind his daughters, Tammy McGee and Kelly Nelson, and his granddaughters, Callie McGee, Riley McGee, and Savannah Nelson. His memory will also live on in his great-niece Taylor Pilkerton, great-nephew Zachary Jarrell, and great-grandsons Brooks and Tate Wooten.
Mickie was a man who left a legacy of love, faith, and craftsmanship. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express a special thanks to his friends and neighbors Jon and Michele Faries.
A service to honor Mickie’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Brown Mountain Baptist Church, with Pastor Eddie Carter officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mickie had requested donations be made to Jt. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
