Mildred Butner Obituary

Mildred Tuttle Butner

On Friday, June 27, 2025, Mildred Tuttle Butner, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, gained her angel wings and went to be with her Heavenly Father after a lengthy
battle with cancer. Her passing leaves us with a profound sorrow but with an equal amount of love and admiration for a life well-lived. This is not her journey’s end but yet the
beginning of her new journey, the one she has prepared for her entire life. Her greatest mission in life has been to love and to be loved.

Born in King, NC on March 5, 1935, she was the eldest daughter of Earnest and Esther Black Tuttle. Attending Mountain View Baptist Church her entire life, she took great pride in
being one of the eldest members of her church congregation. She retired from Reynolds Tobacco Company with over thirty-three years of service, and owned and operated Mildred's Florist and catering services. However, her most important job on this earth was to be a mother and grandmother, a job that she has excelled at.

It has taken 90 years to complete her work here on earth in order to gain her perfect place in heaven. She will be remembered as a warrior and a fighter until her final days. Those
awaiting her arrival in heaven, in addition to her parents, are her siblings, Grady, Jack, and William Tuttle, and Nellie Pursley, along with her grandson Jason Tuttle.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children; Herman (Butch) Butner, Jr, with his wife Ellen; Cynthia B Blackburn with her spouse Avery; Stephen Butner with special friend
Dawn Brown and Jeffrey Butner with his spouse, Jennifer. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren: Todd, Scott, Justin, Jared, Mason, and Summer Butner, along with
Tonya Rockhold, Stephanie Fiora, and Matthew Blackburn; sixteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church, 1042 Mountain View Church Road, King, NC, at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, with the Rev. Paul Norman officiating.  Her family will receive friends at a luncheon in the church Fellowship Hall following the service.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley's Joan and Howard Wolz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC, for the outstanding care that she
received while under their care.
