Nancy Olene (Ayers) Thomas

Nancy Olene Ayers Thomas, 89, of King, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness.

Nancy was born in Iredell County, NC, on May 25, 1936, to the late Bessie Rebecca Myers.

Nancy cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Lori Lankford; her grandchildren, Joshua Lankford and Chelsea Lankford; her great-grandchild, Paisley Grace; and her sister, Sarah Wilkerson. She found great joy in attending her church, Mt. Olive Baptist, and she loved her church family. She also enjoyed doing word searches in her spare time.

She was predeceased by several beloved siblings and other family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Slate Funeral Home in King with Pastor Eric Hardman officiating.  The family will greet visitors following the service.
