King, NC – Nannie Kate Hodge Jones, age 96, passed away peacefully with her beloved family by her side, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Village Care of King.

Mrs. Jones was born on May 21, 1927, in Mingo County, WV, to the late Charles Lacy and Glatha Hodge. She was retired from Western Union Telegraph and First Citizens Bank. She was a dedicated and faithful disciple of her Lord, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of King. Mrs. Jones was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like family.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband William Samuel Jones, son Joseph Lacy Stanley, daughter-in-law Darlene Stanley and her five brothers and three sisters, and a grandson, Jackie Cardwell.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Ruthanne Cole, son-in-law Ken Cole, and her grandchildren: Kim (Randy) Sawyer, Stacy (Steven)Wriston, Brent (Leah) Cole, great-grandchildren: Lyndsay (Matt) Craine, Zachary (Annah)Fleshman, Jacob Fleshman, Nicholas Sawyer, Jessica Wriston, Savannah Wriston, Jenna Cole, Isla Cole, great-great-grandchildren: Elijah Craine, James Craine, Natalie Craine, and Joseph Fleshman.

The family of Nannie Jones would like to thank Village Care of King and Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving care and compassion shown to Nannie during her time of need. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, July 3, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC. Funeral Services will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Monday, July 3, 2023, at Slate Funeral Home in King, NC with reverends Kevin Broyhill, Roger Baker, and Steven Wriston officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park.
