Norma Ann Gravely, a lifelong resident of King, NC, passed peacefully at 12:56 am June 27, 2022, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Norma had been a resident at Graceland Living Center in King for the past 9 years where she was surrounded with an abundance of care, love and fellowship by the staff and friends in the center. Norma also attended Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC until her health declined in recent years.
Norma is survived by her sister, Bonnie Chapman and husband Ted Chapman, nephew Garrett Chapman and wife Annie along with their three sons, Clay, Cole & Connor. In addition to the immediate family, there are many extended family members in the King, Greensboro, and Mt. Airy communities.
Norma worked for many years at Tiny Diny restaurant in King as well as working for nearly 20 years at Northwest Child Development. Normal loved gospel music, college basketball and watching her favorite soap operas. In her early years, she was also an active traveler to view various music events around the state.
Norma was born 10-17-42 in Surry County to Roy & Hattie Gravely and graduated King High School in 1961.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, June 28 from 6-8 pm at Slates Funeral Home in King, NC 132 East Dalton Rd.
Graveside Service will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at Crestview Memorial Park, 6850 University Parkway Rural Hall, NC 27045.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Graceland Living Center 1290 Denny Road, King, NC in honor of Norma’s memory. All condolences can be mailed to Bonnie Chapman at 1145 Traffic Lane, King NC 27021.
