Ola Jane (Sells) Kiser

Mrs. Ola Jane Sells Kiser passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at her home in King, NC. She was born in Stokes County at home in East Dalton St. King, NC, on a snowy day, December 21, 1931. The daughter of the late Vernon Otis and Lema Irene Hall Sells. She graduated from King High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Marcus Elon Kiser, in 1951, who preceded her in death in 2008. Ola Jane was a secretary during her working career, including Atlas Supply Company; Adjutant General’s Office on the Army Base in La Rochelle, France; Western Electric Company; and retired from Sara Lee Corp. in 1987.

After retirement, she and Marcus delivered Meals on Wheels for two years. Ola Jane volunteered with King Outreach Ministry and served on their Board of Directors for several years, acting as secretary for some of those years. She also served on the King Senior Services Advisory Board (King Senior Center) for several years. She was a Senior Center Travel Club member and enjoyed being with friends and playing bridge at the Center.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Hall Sells and James Richard Sells, and a sister-in-law, Aline Wilson Sells Falkenberry. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Denise Kiser McBride; three grandchildren, Adam McBride, Andrew McBride (Tarah Hall), and Alivia McBride (Andy Cox); and two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Ethan, along with one brother, Frank Sells (Amanda); and several nieces and nephews in the Sells and Kiser families.

Ola Jane was a member of First Christian Church, King, NC.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 on Saturday, September 21, 2024, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, with Minister Glenn Van Meter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 625 Meadowbrook Dr., King, NC27021.
