King, NC – Opal Faye Lawson Mabe, 90, of King, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at her home with her family by her side.
Faye was born on July 26, 1931, in Stokes County, NC to the late Joshua Bryan and Mentora Lankford Lawson. She was the widow of James Wesley Mabe. Faye loved gardening.
Faye was also preceded in death by her brothers: Burnette and Bryant “Junior” Lawson; and her sisters: Mae Lawson, Ruth L. Smith and husband Dick, and Alice L. Hauser.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Effie Jean Lawson, two sisters-in-law: Marcia Lawson, and Ramona H. Lawson; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Slate Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 4632 NC Hwy. 66 South, King, NC, with Elder Rodney Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
